90% of African children can’t read and recognize numbers by age 10.
Without profound changes, half of the primary school population in Sub-Saharan Africa will reach adolescence without these basic skills – crippling economic growth, democratic institutions, and health outcomes.
Teaching at the Right Level is a simple pedagogical method that has been rigorously evaluated and proven to have achieved amongst the largest gains in increasing children’s reading and maths levels.
TaRL programs in Sub-Saharan Africa have demonstrated powerful results, with children increasing their foundational skills by up to 60X. TaRL is recognized as one of the most cost effective teaching and learning approaches by the Global Evidence Advisory Panel. Long term government partners are embedding TaRL into their national education policies and approaching national scale. Governments across Africa are requesting support from TaRL Africa to start and grow TaRL programming.
