In 2023, we partnered with the Ethiopia Ministry of Education and Imagine One Day to pilot the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach in selected schools. The initiative aimed to improve the foundational literacy and numeracy skills of children in the Gedeo Zone of South Ethiopia.

TaRL Delivery Model
The TaRL pilot was implemented in Gedeo Zone across 5 government schools. The intervention began in February 2023, targeting learners in Grades 3–6. The language of instruction is Cdufa. TaRL Africa provided technical assistance during training design, coaching, and monitoring. The program has catalysed strong community engagement and ownership, and has laid the foundation for potential expansion in the coming years.
