A New Beginning in Zambia
Applying Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in sub-Saharan Africa

The Ministry of General Education in Zambia launched the Catch Up programme, the first large-scale adaptation of the TaRL approach in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Expanding the Movement

Catch Up expanded to more schools in Zambia, while pilot programmes were launched in Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria, signalling a growing demand for TaRL across the continent.

Adapting Amid Crisis

In response to COVID-19 school closures, we provided remote learning support to 12 countries, reaching more than 1 million children, in a bid to ensure that foundational learning continued despite the disruption.
