On November 3–4 in Addis Ababa, the Educators Shaping Futures convened education leaders and partners for a global knowledge exchange on strengthening teacher preparation and professional support. Co-hosted by the World Bank, Florida State University, the Ethiopian Ministry of Education, and UNESCO, the event focused on building coalitions for change to advance more coherent and effective approaches to teacher professional development. At one of the sessions on teacher professional development, education leaders and partners, including EdTech Hub, STiR Education, The Learning Generation Initiative, and TaRL Africa, came together to examine the role of leadership teams. This includes strengthening continuous, relevant support for teachers. Drawing on evidence and country experiences, the discussion highlights why coordinated leadership across schools, districts, and national systems is critical for professional learning that is effective and sustainable at scale.
